Naudi Aguilar is a great personal trainer and his functional strength routines are really unique….Check out this great movement routine.  You should definitely look up his channel on youtube, there is a lot of great stuff for the BJJ guys out there…

Parallettes Fun for BJJ….

I definitely have to get me a set of parallettes and this video shows why. Like Ive said a million times before, Im always on the look out for better kdrills and workouts to help my sorry old ass stay competitive in BJJ and this routine is another great routine to add to any BJJ guys aresenal.

I Love how he incorporates passing drills into the routine using the parallette bars…

Full body exercise for jiu jitsu…

This is from the guys over at bjjworkouts.com  I really like a lot of their workouts, they are one of the few out there that have really good sport specific routines for the BJJ players.  This is just a small example of some of the types of exercises that they have to offer.  I like how they make standing up in a base position  into a core exercise….

Here’s another great video from Paul Zaichik from elasticsteel.com.   One muscle group I hate to stretch are my hamstrings! Partly because I’m lazy and also I always find it one of the hardest areas to find a real effective stretching routine for.
In this video Paul shows a great range of motion exercise which is a variation on the Down dog position in Yoga.  This is simple and effective plus its one of those exercises that you can do anywhere and anytime, unless your at work which might get you some time off if your boss catches you….LOL

Handstand push up time…..

Matthew Armstrong does a great job in this video of showing beginning to advanced techniques of the handstand push up.  This is an overall great exercise for balance, strength and conditioning. Just make sure you start out on the beginning exercises before you work up to the advanced series…..

Stability ball time…

So Im going to switch the focus this week from Yoga to stability ball workouts. Up first is a killer all-in-one ab exercise thats touted as the best single core ab exercise you can do by Baltimore Personal Trainer: Coach Nick Tumminello.

The beginning is a little heavy on the info, but I take his word for it and so do my abs because Ive tried this before and it sucks, in a good way…lol

This is a fantastic suspension exercise for triangle work in Bjj. What makes it so good is the fact that it functionally mimics going for a triangle at the same time it makes it a live drill.

Some one arm push up training..

Some excellent ways to train to do a one arm push up. Also some unique variations too.

Just hurts me watching….lol

Ok so the first thing I want to say about this video is that I wish I had this guys shed! A lot of good training ideas for whatever your training for.  If your into any kind of grappling art, then this video is gold.

The grip training involved in this video is crazy. If you have the space and the means then a lot of the things that are used in this video would be a great addition to your training gear…

If you haven’t added jump rope to your cardio routine then your missing out. I know in the beginning jumping rope is frustrating as hell, but the benefits are fantastic. Don’t get stuck in the mind set that jumping rope is only for boxing. The cardio benefits are for so many sports.

Check out Ross’s article that goes with this video on his link…
